Thank you Arts of Fashion Foundation for inviting me to be part of your incredible family! Its been an honour and an amazing experience being part of this years Arts of Fashion international student competition! Its been a long process from the first ideas came down on paper and up til October 22nd where it all culminated at a beautiful show where 50 candidates from around 34 different countries showcased their work! The following day we had the chance to look through everyones portfolios and interact with each other! A lovely event that where combined with a fashion seminar, cocktail reception and finished of with the Award ceromonie! For this time I was not between the awarded designers but I would like to Congratulate the ones who where. Amazing artwork and very well diserved!
The theme for this year’s competition is Displacement and the inspiration for my project has been based on the impact the industry can have on nature. For that I have used very pure and beautiful elements from nature, which I have combined with raw elements from the industry. I have tried to create a storytelling with my collection where I have focused on inspiring people to remember the importance of nature.
I have included many different techniques where I have mixed handcraft with machine technology. Here I have included regular and jacquard knitting, laser cutting, digital printing, and crocheting. All of these techniques have been used to create different surface textures and dimensions in the final designs. I have focused on creating an abstract, yet realistic version, of the nature and one of the dresses that are constructed are embellished with 200 small crochet seeds.
I would like to thank my always beautiful model Mette Schultz and my parents for endless support and making this photoshoot and opportunity absolute perfect!
